How the app culture is changing how companies do business

Report Summary

The ubiquity of consumer devices, open-source application platforms and cloud computing technology has made employees increasingly comfortable downloading, using and even creating apps for work purposes. Device proliferation and application usage characterise a new “app culture” that is challenging traditional corporate ITconventions and transforming the way people work. The adoption of new technologies is changing attitudes towards intellectual property (IP), internal innovation and management styles, but perhaps the most profound and lasting impact will be on the cultural fabric of organisations.

To understand how the app culture is changing the workplace, the Economist Intelligence Unit, on behalf of AT&T, conducted a survey of more than 550 global executives from around the world.
