An estimated 100 million people in Europe are living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and a further 300 million individuals are at risk.

CKD prevalence is outpacing other, more recognised non-communicable diseases, largely owing to an ageing population and the increasing prevalence of other risk factors such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity.

CKD is an incurable, long-term condition in which kidney function declines with time. If CKD is not detected early and managed properly it becomes very expensive and burdensome for all stakeholders.

Yet, CKD is under-recognised by many stakeholders who could inspire impactful change.

Economist Impact is gathering a range of fascinating speakers for a discussion about the challenges and opportunities for CKD policy action in Europe. Check out our webinar event.

Economist Impact has published a white paper that assesses the current policy landscape within Europe and looks to future policy action to help address rising numbers of people with CKD and its impact.

Economist Impact has also created country profiles that detail the current policy landscape for CKD in each of the ten countries included in this project. The first of these profiles to be published is for Greece.
